THE STORY

It is common practice within quilting groups to set a challenge from time to time.  A theme or pattern is selected and offered for individual interpretation, usually with an exhibition in mind.

In 2013 Dijanne Cevaal developed a challenge based on small linocut of her Sentinelles.  It was taken up world wide with entries from France, the Netherlands,  England, USA, and of course, Australia.  These works of one hundred and thirty quilters were then exhibited to great acclaim in France and just recently Australia.

The exhibition has been invited back to Europe and for  further tour in Australia.  Following on from that Dijanne is  developing a series of medieval linocuts for an international touring challenge In 2015.  This Queen is  drawn from   Chartres Cathedral.

At very, very short notice, participants in STITCHING  STORIES were offered the first chance interpretation of this  new figure.

We are very fortunate that some participants were able to complete these interpretations at such short notice.  Look around the exhibition and see if you can work out who did what!
